REVIEW: 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Bottled
Courtney & Erin Henderson
It never ceases to amaze us how Château des Charmes can consistently offer so many terrific wines for such unbelievable value. This expressive Cabernet coming out of the warm 2012 vintage is a case in point. Aromas of ripe red and purple fruit, cassis and baking spice set the stage nicely for a full-bodied red with flavours of ripe blackberry, red cherry, vanilla and tamarind. On the palate this is ripe and plush, with terrific structure, moderate tannin and balanced acid that make it perfect for drinking now with grilled meats, or could be stashed away for later.
Rating: 4 stars - Very good example with solid style and character
You can purchase this wine at the LCBO, at CdC's two retail boutiques in Toronto and Ottawa, at the winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake and on-line.
